Eric and Brian chillin on the roof of Bay Islands College of Diving after a morning underwater.
Every afternoon, beginning around 4:30, some of the dive masters at BICD played bartender for all the beer-thirsty divers here on this roof. We would reminisce about the day's dives, hobknob a bit, and plan the night's activities. And rather than paying the island norm of 16 Lempiras for a beer, we payed only 12. |
![]() This is Nuria, our lovely Spanish dive instructor. She is the person who taught us how to survive underwater. She's always in a bright mood and always wears that beautiful smile. Love ya, Nuria.

This is the front door of our humble abode. Just as you walk in the gate, on either side are several holes in the ground where local crabs set up shop. They would disappear back into their holes as soon as you saw them, never wanting to come out for a little friendly conversation. We loved them anyway.
Upstairs lived our landlord Kenny, from Louisiana. He has lived in Utila for 11 years, and now owns a local video shop and movie theatre, where he shows plenty of cheesy horror movies. Why? Because the Utilans go nuts for them. |
| The gym.
This is the back of our apartment, where we lifted rocks and caught some rays. The Caribbean shore is only 15 feet away. |

A nice shot of the East Harbor of Utila, taken as we were leaving the island on a ferry. If you look behind the sailboat and to the right, you will see three white roofs and a docked boat. This is the Bay Islands College of Diving, and one of their boats, called the Neptune.
Another view of the East Harbor. The arrow in the picture is pointing to the location of our apartment and our pier.

A farewell evening at Bar in the Bush, on our final night on the island. Thanks to our good friend Ida for this snap. |
