Utila, Honduras
Gallery 1

You can read the full story that supports these pictures of Utila here.
This is a view of Utila through some trees on the hill. For the most part, Utila is a flat island. There is one main hill on the island called Pumpkin Hill, which is hardly accessible by foot...this is not it. This pic was taken from a small elevated area on the side of the road.
Again from the hill, a view of the bay and a church steeple.
We were blessed with amazing views of the Caribbean sunset from our pier in the back of our apartment. We spent many a night dangling our bare feet off the end of the pier while having a pineapple or melon for dinner, watching the sun welcome the moon.

Brian, Gav, and Eric heading out for a morning underwater. Gav hails from Liverpool, and fast became our good friend. He was usually the happy chap in charge of acquiring and selling cold beers on the roof at the end of each day, a valuable role indeed. Good on ya, mate!

Hard to tell, but that is Eric kickin it underwater. Notice that his breathing regulator is in his right hand...you cheekey monkey!
This is merely one of the 30 or so dolphins that entertained us on our final day in Utila. While looking at this dolphin, try to picture 25 full-grown adults bouncing up and down, giggling, pushing, and leaning in to get the best view of our new friends.

Nurse Skippy.

This is the nurse shark that Gav and I hunted down on my last dive in Utila. The light is bad because she was resting under a coral ledge, but you can clearly make her out, especially her impressive set of fins. She was in this position for thirty minutes, never moving despite all the giddy divers who came to visit her.

Sharkhunters Brian and Gav, minutes after hunting down Nurse Skippy, celebrating the victory underwater.

Gav and Brian again, now celebrating the victory on the roof of the dive school over a couple of cold Salva Vidas, proudly hoisting the sign of the shark.
