Translated from Spanish to English, the word ecuador means equator. Did you see the light bulb come on? As our good traveling friend Crissie so accurately stated, "It's the equator. It would be rude not to go." And our mother did not raise two rude young men. |

This church with an altar balanced on the hemispheres was the only thing that sparked any true interest for me at the equator. Indeed, in a world abounding with various places of worship, and among the many I have seen, this one is forever unique, in a humble, simple, unassuming manner. No architecture-advancing flying buttresses, afflicted Michelangelo's Pietras, or gaudi stained glass windows. Just the center of everything. |
