Ahh, New York. O Nueva York. Como lo quieres. Once you begin to travel in life, you inevitably want more and more of it. And as your travel history grows, you begin dreaming of all the new places you want to visit. Travel becomes less whimsical and more targeted. And as you begin to target different locations, the big ones stick out immediately. Man, I'd really like to go there! And there! Paris, London, Hollywood, the Caribbean, Las Vegas, Rio de Janeiro, the pyramids, Rome, and of course, New York City. Then, as time passes, you begin to wonder if you'll ever get to visit said locations, or if you will forever be left subject to experiencing them vicariously through the Travel Channel and National Geographic Magazine. This was the case for me with New York City. I've wanted to visit for some time now, yet somehow didn't see it ever happening. But things happen when least expected, and when I was offered the chance to visit for a week in exchange for helping a good friend move cross-country in a U-Haul from Houston to New York, I jumped at the chance to cross NYC off my list. Much thanks again, Jake.

| One of my preconceived notions of the big apple was corrected immediately upon arrival. I imagined the city to be dominated by taxis. I was wrong. Actually, about 80% of the cars on the road are personal automobiles. There are still plenty of yellowcabs, and I knew they had to be the subject of a photo at some point during the trip. | ![]() |

Per Eric's recommendation, walking out onto the Brooklyn Bridge to look back at the skyline was one thing on my "NYC To-Do List." Walking out there, I took this photo, realizing how gorgeous the scene was. Throughout the week, I would see this exact image on postcards and photographs all over town. |
