Another avalanche, this time above Laguna Gangrajanca. Again, if it looks small in the photo... |
| From the bottom of the valley of lagunas hovered the imminent climb over this 15,700ft pass. "It shouldn't be that hard," I told Caryl. From where this photo was taken, we were unable to realize that this was only the first half of the pass. | |

Looking back as we ascended the pass, at the torquoise Laguna Quesillococha, the deep blue Laguna Siula, and the agate Laguna Gangrajanca. |
| Again, las tres lagunas. Tried for a better angle here, but the valley is so huge that to capture a truly better angle would have added hours to the day's journey. | |

Finally, the top of the pass...the second half. Caryl made it look easy, but if the picture is a bit shaky it's because I was still catching my breath. |
