| Cuenca is not a city that overwhelms you around every corner. After living there for such an extended time, I found it is the nuances that make it so special. Here are a handful of those that were captured on film. | |

I knew this photo had to be taken when I first walked past it, and I knew when I took it that it would be the opening photo of this gallery. This scene rests on an unassuming side street, along the side walls of a church, surrounded by trees. Below the lettering is an empty tile pool, one foot deep, which in better days used to be filled with blue water. |

This turn of the century barber chair is originally from somewhere in the midwestern United States. Its life path has somehow brought it to this grizzly peluquería in downtown Cuenca, where it now earns a blue collar living, any possible existence of a past life of opulence left unknown. |
