The photos on this page are from the loving personal relationships I had in Cuenca.
These are Marcela's darling little sobrinas (nieces). She's an aunt to six kiddos, but these are the two that live with her and I have a close relationship with. Domenica, on the right, is 5 years old, and has all the spirit of someone that age. Making faces and running around and being messy in the kitchen and never wanting to go to bed. Maria Gracia is 9 and has the most beautiful smile that literally never leaves her face. It's nonstop and enchanting. This pic was taken on their first day of school, so Maria Gracia is still wearing her school uniform.
Marcela at the local hot springs of Baños. There are 4 pools, naturally heated by a volcano up the hill. Kind of icky because of all the dirty people in the pool (no different than any other public pool in the world), dispersed at different levels up the mountain. The water is warm and soothing, so it's no fun getting out into the cold air.
This was taken on the next-to-last day of Eric's two month tenure in Cuenca, outside the internet cafe I worked in every day (muchisimas gracias a Roxanna, Luis, y Mercedes. Les extraño amigos. Espero que todo este bien con ustedes.). Marcela had just returned from a job interview, which she received.
One more snap out on the balcony.
Maria Gracia, Marcela, myself, and Domenica goofing around in the dining room.

More goofing with Dome in the kitchen.
