Working our way down the steep, rocky, shaded, slippery, and narrow trail back to the base. The horses hated it, and you could tell they had been through it a number of times. They knew full well that the end was near, but couldn't decide between rushing down or stopping to eat the grass. When we finally did reach the streets, the horses were, well, off to the races. They knew all the backroads by heart, and there was simply no slowing them down. They sped directly to their stables, never missing a turn. It was high time these gringos get off their backs. |
