Our first night, we went out to get a few cervezas, and ended up in this bar called The Leprechaun, with this cool painting on the wall out front. |

That night at The Leprechaun, we sat at the only table available (in the corner, against the wall, and directly next to one of the giant speakers, blaring a live J-Lo concert at us for the first hour), and promptly noticed that one of the two gringas sitting next to us, being hit on by the local bartender, was wearing none other than a Hickory Street Bar & Grill t-shirt (seen here). For all you Austin natives, you will know this well as one of the finest overall restaurants in town, located at 8th & Congress, with a salad bar bred for champions. Anyways, the "small world" conversation commenced, as well as a series of inspired Austin anecdotes, and thus an instant friendship was born. Her friend was representing Boston, and they were each spending time in Ecuador to learn Spanish. Drawing from a good friend's fine wordsmithing, I would affectionately come to refer to the two of them as "Bauston." |

It turns out that the bartender who was trying to pick them up also owns several horses, and takes them out for daytrips to earn a few bucks. So we all agreed to take a horseback trip through the valley the next day. |

These horses belonged to another group. Ours are off to the left taking care of business. |
On the rock ledge to the right of the waterfall in the center of the photo, you can see a small white figure. This is actually a person's t-shirt, so that should give you some frame of physical reference. |
