Patagonia Expedition '04
Buenos Aires

From Lubbock, TX to El Calafate, Patagonia, with a lengthy layover in Buenos Aires, during which Dad found time to stroll along the Rio de la Plata seawall, where he took this photo, which I am told, is totally porteño.

Mark scheduled a multi-day layover in Bs.As…. someone must have tipped him off about the nightlife. When he wasn't dancing in the clubs until 10:00am he even found time to explore Baires during daylight hours. This is a rotating suspension footbridge by Calatrava at Puerto Madero, el Puente de la Mujer. The central section is suspended by cables from an inclined pylon 39m high and can rotate 90 degrees to allow free passage of water traffic.

"Buenos Aires is amazing. It feels like a very European New York City. The buildings and architecture are a montage of different influences - some Parisian, some Spanish, some purely functional designs, but all with an old world feel."

Eliminating all doubts, welcome to Argentina…
